Ms. Katie Nefflen - Principal Ms. Nefflen is a graduate of Westminster High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the United States Naval Academy in Oceanography. She was commissioned an Officer in the United States Navy and served honorably as a Meteorology and Oceanography Officer for five years, traveling all around the world. After Active Duty, Ms. Nefflen worked in the private sector. Ms. Nefflen then followed her passion for teaching and moved back to Maryland to return to Westminster High School where she taught Physics for 7 years. She earned her Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College and was appointed the Coordinator of Secondary Science for CCPS in 2013. She was then appointed to Assistant Principal at WHS in July of 2017, and Principal in 2022. Ms. Nefflen lives in Westminster with her daughters.

Ms. Krystal Gulden - Assistant Principal Ms. Gulden received her bachelor's degrees from the University of Miami in elementary education and biology and a master's degree in educational administration from Johns Hopkins University. Born and raised in Anne Arundel County, she spent her first 14 years in education working for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Her experiences there included being a middle and high school science teacher, science department chair, coordinator of a STEM biomedical magnet program, and an assistant principal. Ms. Gulden moved to Hampstead with her family and started working at Westminster High last school year. She looks forward to another great year with students, staff, and families. Ms. Gulden is the administrative liaison for the BEST program and students with the last names of M through Ri.

Mr. Eric Meszaros - Assistant Principal Mr. Meszaros graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 2014 and immediately began working in Carroll County Public Schools as a physics teacher at Winters Mill High School. During his time teaching he earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and obtained his administration certificate. While at WMHS, Mr. Meszaros, coached wrestling, led physics club, and was a member of the school’s instructional leadership team. He is very excited to be a member of the Westminster High School community and working with the staff and students of Westminster. Mr. Meszaros spends his free time with his wife and kids. Mr. Meszaros is the administrator for students with the last names beginning with Rj - Z.

Mr. Aaron Robinson - Assistant Principal Mr. Robinson, who comes from a long line of educators, began teaching Social Studies in 2000 after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He taught middle school there for two years before moving to Maryland. He taught at North Carroll HS for six years before transferring to Westminster HS in 2008, where he has been ever since. Mr. Robinson was involved with the WHS Ski Club, Mock Trial Team, a travel-abroad program, and became the Social Studies Department Chair and Co-Chair of the School Improvement Team during his tenure as a WHS teacher. He was appointed acting Assistant Principal in January, 2022. Mr. Robinson has two children who graduated from/currently attend WHS. In his spare time, he loves to travel, hike, kayak, camp, and read both fiction and nonfiction. Mr. Robinson is thrilled to serve the students, faculty, and parents of WHS where, “We are Westminster, We are One!” Mr. Robinson is the administrator for students with the last names beginning with F - L.

Ms. Dana Ricketts - Academic Facilitator Mrs. Ricketts graduated from Western Maryland College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She earned her Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Administration from McDaniel College. Mrs. Ricketts began her career with CCPS in 2002. Prior to becoming the Academic Facilitator at Westminster High School, she was a math teacher at North Carroll High School, the Carroll County Career and Technology Center, and Winters Mill High School. Outside of school, Mrs. Ricketts enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.

Mr. Brian Tombs - Administrator of Athletics, Facilities and Activities Mr. Tombs graduated from Western Maryland College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. After a few years working in the television industry, Mr. Tombs earned his Teaching Certificate to teach English. Carroll County Public Schools is where Mr. Tombs started his teaching career at Century High School in 2002 until becoming the Academic Facilitator in 2012 at Liberty High School. Mr. Tombs has since completed his CAA certification for Athletic Administration. Mr. Tombs has coached basketball the last 23 years in Carroll County with the last 12 years at the varsity level for Liberty High School. Mr. Tombs and his wife have 3 children that all have attended Carroll County Public Schools. |
